Just a reminder that as of Monday, April 27, BART will be charging a daily parking fee of $1 at the Castro Valley station if you park between 4am - 3pm. There are 2 ways to pay for parking, both requiring a little more effort than one would expect it should, but c'est la vie: 1) If you use an EZ Rider card for commuting: - add the parking feature to your account so the fee will automatically be charged to your card - you will receive a hangtag to place in your car - proceed through the turnstile - touch your EZ Rider card to a Parking Validation machine Go here to sign up for an EZ Rider card or amend your account. 2) If you are using a regular paper ticket/ are an infrequent BART rider: - make note of your parking stall number before entering the station - buy your ticket from the machine as usual, adding the $1 parking fee to your fare - proceed through the turnstile - go to an Add Fare/ Parking Validation machine inside, insert your ticket, then enter your parking space number Optionally, you can pay the $1 fee in cash at the Add Fare machine instead of adding it to your fare when you purchase your ticket. Complete instructions are on BART.gov. If you are interested in monthly reserved permits or other parking options, those details are here. Good luck.
