Window Replacement

Hello Neighbors,

We are looking to replace our windows and would like to ask for recommendations.

We have already talked to Palo Alto Glass and Eichler Solutions but would like to talk to a few more companies.

Thanks!

Hedy

We renovated our house a five years ago and replaced all of our windows--sliders, fixed panes, bedrooms, etc.. The company window manufacturer is Blomberg, and our general contractor did the coordination and installation. The windows are double paned and low-e, and the living area windows are single pieces (our house model has living area windows that are probably a bit shorter than others; they are 8'-0" openings). We're very happy with the windows.

    • Mark,

      Thanks for your reply.

We have hired a contractor as well to do the coordination and installation. But we have hit a speed bump today regarding the lead paint issue (please read my discussion regarding lead paint). So as of today, the window replacement is on hold until we get a lead inspection and risk assessment.

      Thanks,

  • Hedy,

We looked into replacing our windows when we first moved in three years ago. We would have liked Palo Alto Glass to do the job but their quote for all the windows and sliders was staggering.

We contacted Eichler Solutions after the Keycon show this year but haven't talked to them yet. Now we are mainly interested in replacing some of our sliders. We would really appreciate your sharing your impressions of the different vendors and your experience with whomever you choose to do your work.

    Thanks,

    Barbara

    • Barbara,

      Thanks for your reply.

We also asked Palo Alto Glass for an estimate and they wanted an extra $800 just to come out to CV.

We talked to Eichler Solutions and were not impressed. The sales rep. turned us off and we knew we did not want to work with them. We are going to be working with a contractor for the window replacement. He will be doing the coordination and installation. But we have hit a speed bump today. Please read my discussion regarding lead paint. So as of today, the window replacement is on hold until we get a lead inspection and risk assessment.

      Thanks,

      Hedy
